
Director of Engineering - WCMU Public Media
The Director of Engineering for WCMU Public Media is responsible for the management of broadcast engineering, including operations and maintenance for a four-station television and eight station radio network and engineer staff. This position is also responsible for identifying increased efficiencies, network reliability, planning for and implementing new technologies and platforms relating to production, editing, and distribution of content.
Requirements (Experience, Education, Etc.): Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience that equates to four years. Five years of broadcasting television and radio engineering experience. Component level understanding of television production, distribution, UHF, VHF, and microwave transmission equipment. Component level understanding of FM production, distribution, and transmission equipment. Project management experience from design to implementation. Experience creating and operating IP networks. Familiarity with live streaming and emerging technologies. Experience with migration to fiber optic-based delivery to transmitter broadcast locations. Understanding of FCC, FAA, NEC, OSHA, and MiOSHA regulations Familiar with the nextGen ATSC 3.0 capabilities and requirements. Ability to use office productivity software. Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively, internally and externally. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Experience managing a team.
