The Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) Foundation is helping MAB member stations create a more impactful experience for interns. In 2025, the MAB Foundation is once again offering $2,000 in financial support to qualifying stations to help pay and support quality interns. To be considered, please complete the application below. Your intern should be hired before completing this application.
Station Qualifications
In order to receive financial support through the MAB Foundation Internship Support Program, stations must:
· Be an FCC licensed radio or television station with 2025 MAB or MAPB membership dues paid in full.
· Currently air messages through the MAB's Non-Commercial Sustaining Announcement (NCSA) program or the Michigan Association of Public Broadcasters General Services Announcement (GSA) program.
· Associate or Individual MAB members are not eligible.
Station Selection
Up to four stations will be selected to receive funds per trimester. Funds will be granted to qualifying stations on a first come, first served basis. Applications will be accepted throughout the year. If there are not four qualifying stations in a trimester, those reserved funds may be rolled over to the following trimester, allowing for more than three stations to be awarded at a given time. Total dollars awarded will not exceed $24,000 within a calendar year. Each station group within a market is eligible to receive support for one intern every calendar year.
Internship Requirements
In order to qualify to receive funds through the MAB Foundation Internship Support Program, internships must:
· Require a minimum of 80 working hours over the duration of the internship.
· Intern experience must involve hands-on assignments directly related to the intern’s field of interest, exposure to new skills, feedback and support of station staff, and opportunities to network within the industry.
