Criteria: A Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductee is chosen based on his/her distinguished professional career in Michigan broadcasting. The inductee has exemplified integrity, innovation, achievement, leadership, and contributions to the industry, and has been a positive influence on individuals in the profession. The nominee may hold or have held any position with in the industry.

- Management Active (Nominees in this category are currently in active management roles within the broadcast industry)
- On-Air Active (Nominees in this category are currently in active On-Air roles at broadcast stations)
- Pioneer (Nominees in this category are currently retired or deceased. These individuals have made a lasting impact on the broadcast industry through years of dedicated work)
Nominations are collected throughout the year. Each spring, all active nominations, and previously nominated individuals, are reviewed by the Awards Committee, then the MAB Board of Directors. Final nominated candidates are voted on by the MAB and MAB Foundation Boards of Directors, past MAB Presidents, the Awards Committee, and past award recipients. Inductees are recognized at the annual Awards Banquet each August.
