WGVU Development Specialist

This key fundraising role is centered on engaging and maintaining relationships with major corporate and foundation donors. The successful candidate will oversee various sponsorships, including events and programs, and collaborate with others to develop innovative funding opportunities. Managing a portfolio of potential donors and fostering enduring partnerships are critical aspects of the position. Additionally, the role involves contributing to communication and material development efforts, ensuring alignment with the organization's overarching goals and values. Overall, this position plays a vital role in securing the necessary support to ensure the station's continued success.

Key Responsibilities: *Donor Engagement: Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major corporate and foundation donors to enhance financial support for WGVU Public Media.

*Sponsorship Management: Actively oversee a diverse mix of philanthropic event and program sponsorships, including media underwriting.
*Collaborative Funding Development: Work cross-functionally to create compelling funding opportunities for corporate and foundation donors through special events and program underwriting.
*Prospect Portfolio Management: Develop and manage a robust portfolio and pipeline of corporate and foundation prospects.
*Partnership Building: Proactively establish long-term partnerships and strengthen relationships within the corporate and foundation sectors.
*Donor Relations: Meet with prospective and current donors, fostering excellent working relationships with current and potential supporters and colleagues.
*Campaign Support: Contribute to the creation of case statements, talking points, and materials for campaigns and projects.
*Proposal and Report Generation: Participate in crafting proposals, grant applications, and reports for corporations and foundations.
*Team Collaboration: Work closely with WGVU philanthropy, marketing, education, and content creation teams to align initiatives with donor interests.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Schedule may include nights and weekends. Some travel may be required.

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience Campus: Grand Rapids Pew Campus

Required Qualifications:

*Bachelors' degree and two (2) years of related work experience.
*Experience in non-profit fundraising, sponsorship, and event development.
*Database and reporting software experience.
*Experience working with members/donors and ability to identify a diverse donor prospect pool.
*Experience with successfully coordinating large projects.
*Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
*Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
*Ability to work within a collaborative multiplatform culture and environment.
*Ability to demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and work self-sufficiently with little direction when required.
*Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
*Valid driver’s license and ability to work on location as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Experience with public media
